2. Privacy-First Design
RovaMate is designed to minimize data collection:
- No account registration required
- No cloud database operated by us
- No advertising networks
- No sale of user data
- No background tracking
All data you enter is stored locally on your device.
3. Data Stored on Your Device
RovaMate stores vehicle-related information locally on your device for your personal use — including vehicle details, fuel records, maintenance history, documents, expenses, and app preferences. This data is never transmitted to our servers.
4. Anonymous Usage Analytics (Optional)
RovaMate offers optional anonymous usage analytics to help improve the app. Analytics are disabled by default and you will be asked to choose during onboarding.
You can enable or disable analytics at any time in Settings → Privacy. When disabled, no data is sent.
If enabled, we collect anonymous usage events (such as which features are used) through an EU-hosted analytics service. No personal information, vehicle data, documents, or location is ever included.
5. Data We Do Not Collect
RovaMate does not collect:
- Personal identity information (name, email, phone number)
- User accounts or login credentials
- Location data for tracking purposes
- Vehicle data or documents stored in the app
- Contact lists
- Advertising identifiers
- Biometric data
We do not sell, rent, or share user data with third parties.
6. Device Permissions
RovaMate requests the following device permissions only when needed for specific features:

Each permission may be denied without affecting unrelated features. Location is never accessed in the background.
7. Data Processing & Export
Some features process data locally on your device:
- Document scanning: Text recognition from document photos happens entirely on-device. No images or extracted text are sent to external servers.
- Backup & export: You can export your data as an unencrypted or password-protected backup file, saved locally on your device. If you choose to share a backup via email or cloud storage, that transfer is handled by the external service you select — we have no control over it.
8. Third-Party Services
RovaMate uses a minimal set of external services:
- Analytics (optional): An EU-hosted service receives anonymous usage events only when you opt in.
- Roadside assistance: When you use the towing feature, map and messaging services may receive your GPS location — only with your explicit action.
Each of these services is governed by its own privacy policy.
9. Your Rights & Legal Basis (GDPR)
Under the GDPR, RovaMate processes limited data based on your consent (analytics), your explicit action (towing assistance), and legitimate interest (local app functionality).
Your rights include:
- Access: All your data is visible inside the app
- Rectification: You may edit any record at any time
- Erasure: Delete individual records or uninstall the app to remove all data
- Portability: Export your data using the backup feature
- Objection: Disable analytics at any time in Settings

10. Data Retention
Your data stays on your device for as long as the app is installed. Uninstalling the app removes all locally stored data. You may delete individual records at any time within the app. Analytics data, if enabled, is governed by the retention policy of our analytics provider.
11. Children's Privacy
RovaMate is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
12. Security
We take reasonable technical measures to protect your data, including encrypted backup options, secure local storage, and encrypted transmission for any data sent externally. No system can guarantee absolute security.
13. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The updated version will always show a revised "Last updated" date. Significant changes may be communicated through the app or our website.
